Phil Thornburg is a landscape designer and contractor. Since 1983 he has owned and
operated Winterbloom Landscaping. Phil's guiding motto is "creating private
Edens, one home at a time."
Phil's childhood was spent in Africa. His home was in Burundi, a part of the former
Belgian Congo. He also attended a boarding school for secondary education in
Phil came to the United States when he was 17, and spent two years at George Fox
College in Newberg. He then spent a year in Switzerland, where he maintained
the landscape for a small resort and studied French. Phil transferred to Oregon State University,
where he graduated in 1974, with a degree in Horticulture/Agriculture.
Phil's work has been published in Better Homes & Gardens Special Interest
Publications, Women's Day Special Publications and was recently spotlighted in
the Tigard Times Monthly.
